The Education and Skills Act 2008 requires that young people will stay on in learning to 17 from 2013 and to 18 from 2015. So it is becoming more important than ever to work with employers to ensure young people have a variety of education and training opportunities available to them.
The Government wants every school, including primary schools, to have a business partner. Many schools are already taking full advantage of employers’ support, often working with colleges that already have naturally strong employer links.
This guide sets out the priorities where it is recognised that employer engagement can make the most difference to the success of a school. It provides information on how schools can form and build a relationship with employers.
